Whale Watching

For my Grandmother's birthday this year, Jenna and I decided to take her whale watching out of Santa Cruz. I wasn't quite sure how Jenna would do on a boat for 4 hours- if she would get sea sick, bored, tired, etc. but she did great and had a lot of fun!

Here's a picture of us leaving the harbor
When we told Jenna to say goodbye to Santa Cruz, she said this:
"Do we not have a house now? Are we going to be on this big boat for a long time now?"
It was really cute and then later she asked how we were going to get back home and if the big boat could make it back before night time, ha.

We saw two Sea Otters playing around

This is where Jenna hung out when the boat was going fast

We saw some Sea Lions

And we saw about 4 or 5 Gray Whales! You can kind of see part of a tail in this picture. I didn't get very many shots of what we actually saw. The whales seemed to swim off every time the boat got close enough for us to see them, so we mostly saw them from a distance which was still pretty neat.

Jenna crashed in my arms on the boat ride back. I think all the rocking put her to sleep!

Overall, we had a good time out on the boat. The weather was gorgeous and Jenna enjoyed her first whale watching experience! Thanks Grandma Shirley for having a birthday and coming out to see the whales with us!
